Hewlett-Packard is expanding a previously-announced voluntary battery recall and free replacement programme, which now includes additional battery packs and one added notebook model series, namely the Compaq 6520s.
The affected battery packs contain cells that have the potential to overheat, posing a fire and burn hazard to consumers.
HP is urging customers to visit the programme's website to find out if their notebook model number is part of the programme and if their specific battery packs are affected. Customers who have validated their model number and battery pack during previous recall announcements should also revalidate their battery pack, the company said.
