MALAYSIAN NEWS: Mampu targets 90% govt services online by 2015

Malaysia, MARANG: Come 2015, 90% of the government agencies administrative business services will be conducted online and only 10% done over the counter.

Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit ( Mampu) director-general Datuk Mohamad Zabidi Zainal said the online services would include conference calls and others.

At the moment we are writing all sorts of letters and when calling for meetings, we put out long invitation notices and after that we are saddled with detailed minutes, all on paper.

“If we could call a meeting online, the minutes would also be sent online,” he told reporters after launching Exit Conference,' which is a transformation incentive organised by the Marang District and Land Office here Sunday.

Zabidi said Mampu would implement the system according to the financial capability of the government.

He said Mampu had implemented the e-Counter Services and Paperless Government Baseline Study early this year.

The findings of the study on 6,233 services provided by the government showed only 21% were online while the level of usage was at 40%.

He urged all government agencies throughout the country to be more proactive and aggressive in providing online services.
